A Letter Regarding The 2020 St. Rocco's Feast of Malden

Dear Friends of the St. Rocco Society of Malden,

For over 90 years we have celebrated the feast of St. Rocco in August. It is with great sadness that we will cancel the feast for August 2020. Due to the Covid19 Pandemic it is  with great caution that we adhere to the State guideline curtailing all outdoor events.

Though our feelings of sadness overwhelm us, it’s important to keep our spirits lifted in the true essence of St. Rocco by invoking his powerful intercession for good health and protection against epidemics and all types of contagious diseases.

We will take this time to think, reflect and pray for all. We will be back stronger than ever in 2021.

Mark Your Calendars for next year. Feast dates: August 6-7-8, 2021

Please check our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

If you would like to support us we will accept donations of any amount and we will be selling 90th Anniversary t-shirts and golf shirts at half price.  Details will be available shortly on our Facebook page.  Viva San Rocco!

In closing we take this passage from St. Rocco’s Novena.

O Great St. Rocco, deliver us, we beseech thee, from the scourges of God; through thy intercession, preserve our bodies from contagious diseases, and our souls from the contagion of sin. Obtain for us salubrious air; but, above all, purity of heart. Assist us to make good use of health, to bear suffering with patience; and, after thy example, to live in the practice of penance and charity, that we may one day enjoy the happiness which thou has merited by thy virtues. St. Rocco, pray for us

About Saint Rocco

Saint Rocco was born of noble parentage about 1340 A.D. in Montpellier, France. At birth it was noted that he had a red cross-shaped birthmark on the left side of his chest. As a young child, San Rocco showed great devotion to God and the Blessed mother. At an early age, his parents died leaving him an orphan under the care of his uncle, the Duke of Montpellier. Soon after, San Rocco distributed his wealth among the poor and took a vow of poverty.
